Southern Sounds: Live from Capricorn brings you the Macon Music Revue‘s rendition of R.E.M.s legendary track “Losing My Religion” as featured on their self-titled debut album. In celebration of the album’s release, an intimate audience session took place in Macon, Georgia’s historic Capricorn Sound Studios on the Studio B stage.
Losing My Religion (R.E.M.)
Drummer Bill Berry and bassist Mike Mills first met at Northeast High School in Macon. They played in local bands together and after graduation, briefly shared an apartment next door to Paragon Booking Agency. But in 1978, the pair decamped for UGA in Athens, where they befriended Michael Stipe and Peter Buck, with whom they formed R.E.M. in 1980. “Losing My Religion” was the first single from the band’s seventh album, Out of Time.
