Houston Healthcare Game of the Week: The Warner Robins Demons vs The Veterans Warhawks

In this Friday’s Region 1-AAAAA Championship game, the Veterans Warhawks will once again take on the Warner Robins Demons in a rivalry that goes back to 2012. The teams have so far faced one another five times with the Demons coming out victorious in five consecutive games. Will Veterans finally take down their undefeated opponent? Let’s look at the stats.

The Demons are coming off a bye week and are currently 8-1 overall and 3-0 in region play. Warner Robins last played on October 25th at Bainbridge and won 28-21. Through nine games, the team is averaging 32.89 points per game on offense and allowing 14.33 on defense. A WR win this Friday would mark the 3rd consecutive region championship for the team and the 27th all-time title for the school. Top players for WR include junior Quarterback, #1 Jalen Addie, and senior Wide-Receiver, #2 Marcayll Jones, who recently committed to Memphis. The Demons are led by first-year head coach Marquis Westbrook.

Veterans comes into this game following a 27-21 region road win over the Thomas Co. Central Yellow Jackets. The team is also 8-1 overall and 3-0 in region play. The Warhawks are averaging 23.78 ppg on offense and allowing 14.11 on D. This would be the 2nd region championship for the school should they win this Friday. Players of note on the team include senior Defensive End, #97 Tylon Chambers, and senior Running-Back, #8 Jalon Shine. Veterans is led by second-year head coach Milan Turner.

Veterans has a solid football team this year that has surprised many HS football fans. The Warhawks’ defense is especially tough, having held every opponent under 30 points in all nine games played this season. Veterans will be hungry to secure a second region win and finally take down their long-unbeaten rival. Meanwhile, WR will be striving to continue their winning streak and to bring home a 3rd consecutive title. Veterans will need to make some big passing plays should they wish to come out victorious Friday. The Warhawks are hosting the game at their home stadium in Kathleen, GA which should give them a leg up. It will undoubtedly be a nail-bitter– and a hell of a game to watch!
