Houston Healthcare High School Basketball Tournaments Overview

Region 1-AAAAAA

The Northside Lady Eagles are the 3rd seed in 6A after finishing the regular season 14-8 overall and 3-5 in region play. Today at 4:00pm, the girls will take on the #2 seed Houston Co Lady Bears, who went 16-8 overall this year and 4-4 in region play.

The Houston Co Bears boys team got a huge 58-54 home win over Northside in the Region Tournament Play-in Game earlier this week. That win propelled them into the main part of the Region Tournament and qualified the Bears for the State Playoffs while killing Northside’s chances in the process. The Bears are currently 12-11 overall and 4-5 in region play with that recent victory over Northside. The Bears are ranked #4 and will be taking on the #1 seed Valdosta Wildcats later tonight. Both the Valdosta Girls and Boys teams are the #1 seed in Region 6A.

Region 1-AAAAA

Both the Veterans boys and girls are the #1 seed in their region 5A tournaments this year as both teams had an overall record of 23-2. The boys went 7-1 in region play this year while the girls ended an even more impressive 8-0.

The Veterans boys one loss came against the Warner Robins Demons, who are ranked #2 in the 5A tournament along with their girls’ team. The Demons were 6-2 in region play this year while the Demonettes finished 5-3.

Both the Veterans boys and girls will face Bainbridge tonight in the first round of the 5A tournament. The boys’ game will take place at 8:30pm. The Warner Robins boys and girls also have games tonight against Harris County. The girls play at 4:00pm followed by the boys at 5:30pm.

Region 2-AAAA

The Perry Lady Panthers got a big win this past Monday when they pulled away and defeated the Mary Persons Lady Bulldogs 46-30. This win has advanced Perry to the main part of the Region Tournament and qualified them for the State Playoffs. The win also eliminated Mary Persons and ended their season. With this new victory, the Lady Panthers are now 9-13 overall and 5-6 in region play as well as the #4 seed in the Region Tournament. The Lady Panthers will most likely take on the Spalding Lady Jaguars next, a team in the top seed of Region 2-AAAA with a 10-0 record in region play. The Perry Boys team lost 58-50 to Spalding in the Region Tournament Play-In game which ended their season.

Upson-Lee is the top seed in Region 2-AAAA with an 11-1 record in region play. They will play for the Region Tournament Title tomorrow night.

Other Middle Georgia Teams Region Tournaments

The Stratford Academy Lady Eagles are the top seed in Region 7-A as they went 10-0 in region play.

The Wilkinson Co Boys team is the top seed in Region 7-A with a 10-0 region record.

The Dublin Boys team is the top seed in Region 3-AA as they finished region play at 11-1 and 20-4 overall. Dublin split their season series with Washington Co as both teams went 11-1 in region play, but Dublin is the top seed because of their better overall record.

The Southwest Lady Patriots are the top seed in Region 3-AA with an 11-1 record in region play.

The Westside (Macon) Boys team is the top seed in Region 4-AAA with an 11-1 record in region play. They beat Central (Macon) both times in the regular season which turned out to be the Chargers’ two losses in region play.

The Americus-Sumter Boys team is the top seed in Region 1-AAAA as they went 16-0 in region play and are currently 25-0 overall.

The Wilcox Co Boys team is the top seed in Region 2-A as they went 16-0 in region play and are currently 23-0 overall.

The Treutlen Boys team is the top seed in Region 3-A West with an 11-0 region record and 25-0 overall record.

The Wheeler Co Girls team is the top seed in Region 3-A West with an 11-0 region record and 24-1 overall record.

The Jackson Girls team should be the top seed in Region 4-AAA by virtue of a better overall record than Rutland.

The Americus-Sumter Girls team is the top seed in Region 1-AAAA by virtue of a better overall record than Carver (Columbus).
