It may not be new to you… But it’s news to us!

Tami Neilson’s CHICKABOOM! dropped on Valentine’s Day and is one of the big boss mama’s strongest efforts to date. On 2/21, look for a vinyl re-release of Tami’s 2014 album Dynamite!

Dave Alvin’s new project, The Third Mind, just dropped its debut self-titled album on Yep Roc Records. Featuring Victor Krummenacher (Camper Van Beethoven, Cracker, Monks of Doom), David Immergluck (Counting Crows, Monks of Doom, John Hiatt), and Michael Jerome (Richard Thompson, Better Than Ezra), the 6-song groover features some seriously cool interpretations (including a fine and crunchy cover of the 13th Floor Elevators’ “Reverberation”) and one new track. Worth your time and money…

John Prine is taking some time off the road, canceling some overseas dates due to an “aggravated hip injury.” As of this writing, Prine’s tour schedule still lists MerleFest on 4/26, Jazz Fest on 5/3, and his lone Georgia date at Shaky Boots on 5/8

And since we’re on the subject, Timothee Chalamet has been cast as Bob Dylan in a biopic set to be directed by James Mangold (Walk the Line). Currently working under the title of Going Electric, the film will chronicle Dylan’s polarizing shift in 1965 from solo folky to rock icon…

If we had $250 to spare (which we don’t because we’ll be buying all these other albums), the John Hiatt Only the Song Survives box set would be ours. The collection features eleven albums on fifteen 180g vinyl records and a 48-page book autographed by Hiatt all tucked into a leatherette case. If you get one, can we come over and listen?

Jerry Lee Lewis may have suffered a minor stroke a year ago, but rock n’ roll’s original wildman just finished recording a new album of gospel favorites with T-Bone Burnett and featuring guest shots from James Burton, Lee Ann Womack, the McCrary Sisters, and longtime band member Kenny Lovelace…
