Mercer Medicine is partnering with Depaul USA’s Daybreak Day Resource Center in Downtown Macon to offer free COVID-19 testing for Middle Georgia’s homeless population. Testing will take place at the resource center located at 174 Walnut Street this Thursday, June 4th from 9:30am until 1:30pm.
Every weekday in Macon, an average of 100 homeless men and women visit Depaul USA Daybreak to receive services that help them overcome the immediate crisis of homelessness. These services include housing and housing placement, case management, breakfast and snacks, laundry facilities, showers, free health clinic, access to phones and computers, transportation assistance, and identification and documentation.
Grants and gifts from the Griffith Family Foundation, Fred and Kim Schnell, and the Community Foundation of Central Georgia are enabling Mercer Medicine to provide free COVID-19 testing for homeless and other underserved populations in Middle and Southwest Georgia.
