Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) announced that its 2021 Commencement Ceremony will be held in person on Friday, June 4, 2021. The outdoor event will take place at Brad Henderson Memorial Stadium at 9am This reverses the College’s previous decision to hold a virtual ceremony.
The College made the decision to have the ceremony outdoor and in person following the signing of Governor Brian Kemp’s recent Executive Order regarding outdoor capacity on May 1. Graduates and attendees are encouraged to practice personal safety and observe social distancing guidelines.
After a year like no other, the College is pleased to once again offer graduates the ceremony, celebration, and tradition their moment deserves.
“Previously, Central Georgia Technical College made the announcement that we would have a virtual commencement ceremony. However, I’m here today to announce that the College has made the decision to host an outdoor, in-person graduation ceremony in the coming weeks,” said CGTC President Dr. Ivan Allen in a special message to students and staff on Friday, May 7th via Facebook. “We look forward to celebrating this special moment with you and your families.”
The outdoor ceremony will adequately allow CGTC to respect local guidelines regarding outdoor events. The College recommends for those in attendance to continue to follow guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Georgia’s Department of Public Health officials regarding health and safety.
Guests are encouraged to wear masks and continue practicing recommended virus prevention methods including, washing hands, sanitizing, avoiding unnecessary touching, and staying home if they have been sick or in contact with the virus.
Graduates who have previously submitted information for a virtual ceremony will be included in the presentation of graduates in person.
Henderson Stadium has a maximum capacity of 8,000. Limited parking is available. While no ticketing will occur for this event, graduates are asked to limit guest attendance to parties of no more than 4. Gates will open at 7:45am Graduates are asked to arrive by 8am.
