Celebrate Macon Pride Week September 20-26

In 2019, Macon Pride was created to advance unity, visibility, and self-esteem among LGBTQIA+ persons and allies and to promote a positive image in the Middle Georgia area through community activities and service.

Macon Pride, Inc. will launch Pride Week on Monday, September 20th with the kick-off event, Broadway Does Pride, a cabaret event collaboration with Mercer University, Theater Macon, and Macon Little Theater at the Grand Opera House on Mulberry Street in downtown Macon with shows at 6:30pm and 8:30pm.

Macon Pride Board President, Scott Mitchell states, “As President of Macon Pride, I have the opportunity to show every LGBTQIA+ person in Middle Georgia that they have worth and their life is valid. Working for diversity, inclusion, and visibility for groups of people that have historically been underrepresented is my greatest life’s work.”

The celebration continues on Wednesday, September 22nd with Macon Pride “In The Name Of Love” Beer Release Party at Piedmont Brewery & Kitchen at 6:00pm.

On Thursday night at 6:30pm, Dress for Fun + Sing with Pride featuring McKinley Starks and Yutoya Leon is a free outdoor cabaret event in 3rd Street Park. Fun dress encouraged! Maybe a Broadway character? Or just dress for fun!

Friday, September 24th, everyone will be headed to the Hargray Capitol Theater for the Macon Pride House Party featuring RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 13 Miss Congeniality LaLa Ri. The 2021 Drag Show features live entertainment by The Tribe Macon, Akasha Giselle Vidalle, Coco Iman Starr, Pynk S Dime, Tangerine Summers, Taylor Alxndr, and Yutoya Avaze Leon. The event is hosted by Christina Leon.

The annual Pride Day Festival begins at noon on Saturday, September 25th with a gathering of LGBTQIA+ families and allies in Downtown Macon. DJ B3 hosts the 2021 Pride Festival in 3rd street park, along with vendor booths, Elected Official Greetings, Drag, and Celebration.
