The full-length project Miami Moon is set to bring the 70s R&B and Funk, and hits stores and shelves August 16th
Devon Allman is stepping into the spotlight solo, at least for a moment.
For the first time in nearly a decade, The Allman Betts Band co-frontman is releasing a solo project with the lead single “White Horse” out today (June 7th.)
For those worried about Allman straying too far from his musical heritage, well… don’t. Although distinctly and uniquely his own, the forthcoming album titled Miami Moon is still rooted in the traditions of his late father, the great Gregg Allman, and boasts plenty of winks and nods to the days of old that made Devon the musician he is today.
The younger Allman shared the exciting news of his brand new album and “White Horse” on his Instagram page earlier this week with the following caption:
“Hey now!! Really excited to finally announce my first solo LP in eight years Miami Moon …made with a legendary cast of musicians in a historic recording studio. 📣📣
Miami Moon was recorded in Miami at Criteria Studios, where ‘Eat a Peach’ and ‘Layla’ were made with A-list musicians George Porter Jr. of The Meters, Ivan Neville from Keith Richards & the Xpensive-Winos & Dumpstaphunk, Adam Deitch of Lettuce, Karl Denson from The Rolling Stones and guitar phenom Jackson Stokes. Produced by multiple-Grammy winning Tom Hambridge & Devon Allman and cut to two-inch analog tape; it’s a throwback 70’s funk-infused R&B record screaming to be the soundtrack of your hot summer of 2024. The first single & music video for ‘White Horse’ drop this Friday June 7!! The LP will be available for pre-order the same day and drops August 16 on my own Create Records.”
The driving soul and groove of “White Horse” is as vibrant as the music video itself, and absolutely positions this summer to be a big one for Allman professionally. Relix Magazine hosted the premiere of the video and spoke with Allman about how the song came to be.
Allman told Relix, “’White Horse’ is a fun one. I wrote it on bass guitar in the back of the tour bus while we were on tour with Samantha Fish. I had been listening to a lot of Curtis Mayfield and Nile Rodgers production. This song is about NOT waiting for your ‘ship to come in’ or for your big break….just embracing the moment and believing in yourself. The video was shot with legends Ivan Neville and George Porter Jr. on board and the vibe was to bring the Miami Moon album cover aesthetic to life.”
Allman is set to tour Europe this summer, with dates in Spain, Italy, Germany, France, and even Finland. Click HERE to pre-order Miami Moon.
