Russell Henley one shot out of lead at Open Championship

Macon native Russell Henley is one shot out of the lead entering the final round at the Open Championship. Henley shot a 5-under-par 66 on Saturday in the third round and is tied with five players at 3 under, one shot behind leader Billy Horschel, who finished Saturday at 4 under.

Henley had six birdies, including three straight at one point, and one bogey in Saturday’s round. He had the second-lowest round of the day (Thriston Lawrence and Sam Burns both shot rounds of 65 also to enter Sunday’s round at 3 under).

Henley and Burns will play in the next-to-last group on Sunday, teeing off at 9:15 a.m. ET at Royal Troon Golf Club.

Henley started the tournament with a 69 on Thursday but shot a 75 in difficult decisions on Friday to enter Saturday’s round nine shots off the lead. He’s playing in his 10th Open Championship with his best finish coming in 2015 (a tie for 20th).

Henley’s best finish in a major came at the 2023 Masters (tied for fourth).
