Macon’s Russell Henley will play in the PGA Tour’s Tour Championship this week at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta. It will be his fourth appearance in the Tour’s season-ending event.
Henley will be one of 30 players in the field and will play with Viktor Hovland in the first round. They will tee off at 12:27 p.m. on Thursday.
With the staggered scoring system in place for the tournament, Henley will start the four-round event at 2 under, tied for 16th. He will start eight shots behind leader Scottie Scheffler.
Henley, who has four career wins and is No. 14 in the Official World Golf Ranking, has six top-10 finishes this year. He has played in 18 events in 2024 and made the cut in 17 of them.
Henley’s best finish this year is fourth at the Valero Texas Open and T4 at the Sony Open and the Arnold Palmer Invitational. He missed the cut at the Players Championship, finished T38 at the Masters, T23 at the PGA Championship, T7 at the U.S. Open and fifth at the Open Championship.
He was ninth in the U.S. team’s Presidents Cup final standings and is in the mix for one of the six captain’s picks for the team. Those will be announced Sept. 3.
