Macon Presents Breakfast & a Show at AmericanaFest 2024

Local Music & Tourism Partners Host Industry Gathering

On Friday, Sept. 20, 2024, Macon, Georgia takes its soul and stories to Nashville, Tennessee when a group of partners host “Breakfast and a Show” at American Legion Post 82 during AmericanaFest. Local tourism and music industry representatives will host the event, serving cheese grits and H&H Soul Food’s signature biscuits to attendees of the annual music festival and conference. Macon Music Revue will perform throughout the two-hour event and representatives from 100.9 The Creek, Visit Macon, Capricorn Sound Studios and Museum, the Big House Museum, Otis Redding Foundation, Georgia Music Founation, Grant’s Lounge and Capitol Theatre, along with the Church of Duane Allman mobile exhibit, will be on hand with a wide selection of merchandise for sale.

“A group of Macon organizations led by Visit Macon shared a booth at AmericanaFest last year, but we all agreed what we really wanted to do was host a Macon party to show off all the extraordinary assets the city has,” said Lisa Love, host of “Grits On Groceries” on 100.9 The Creek and director of the Georgia Music Foundation. “The American Legion is a big part of Nashville and East Nashville’s music community and we decided a breakfast event there would be super fun and least likely to compete with the numerous day and evening parties and showcases. The response from folks wanting to attend so far has been overwhelmingly positive and we look forward to promoting Macon as an influential music destination.”

In addition to Breakfast & A Show, Macon music industry representatives have official roles in AmericanaFest on Thursday, Sept. 19. Wes Griffith, co-owner and music director of 100.9 The Creek, will participate in the 11:30 AM panel, “Americana Radio Then and Now: Part Two – Toto, We’re Not in Lubbock Anymore” to discuss the future of the radio format, while Charles Davis and Sam Stephens, co-hosts of “Creekside Mornings,” will emcee the NMAAM Songwriter Round at the National Museum of African American Music at 12 noon featuring songwriters Crys Matthews, Carmen Dianne and Jonathan Paige Brown, Jr.

“Macon, Georgia Presents Breakfast & A Show” is free to AmericanaFest attendees with bands or passes and to veterans.
