Strong start for Central Georgia GHSA playoff teams; FPD heads to GIAA final

The GHSA playoffs started on Friday night, and Central Georgia’s teams had a strong start to their postseason. Listed below are the area teams that advanced on Friday and Saturday. Check out all the Central Georgia scores here. Check out the teams’ next matchups here.

In Class 5A, Houston County beat Clarke Central 69-48.

In Class 4A, Perry beat St. Pius X 38-13, while Jones County beat East Forsyth 51-21.

In Class 3A, Peach County beat Chestatee 56-33, Baldwin beat West Laurens 26-24, and Upson-Lee beat Long County 35-23.

In Class 2A, Westside beat Spencer 49-35, while Sumter County beat Union County 37-6.

In Class 1A-Division I, Northeast beat Swainsboro 46-7, Dublin beat Gordon Central 63-6, Dodge County beat Chattooga 40-14, Bleckley County beat Social Circle 41-16, and Lamar County beat Dade County 51-10.

In Class 1A-Division II, Macon County beat Greenville 44-14, while Wilcox County beat McIntosh County Academy 9-0.

In the GIAA Class 4A semifinals, FPD beat Bethlehem Christian 34-0. The Vikings will try to defend their Class 4A title next week.
