Grant’s 53rd Birthday Party w/Catfish Mac & the Bottom Feeders
Come celebrate Grant’s Lounge 53rd anniversary with Catfish Mac & The Bottom Feeders featuring Larry McCray with an opening set by Macon Music Legend Bo Ponder!
Bo Ponder is a Macon icon. And a singer who can still hit all the heights after having performed regularly through the last 5 decades! Ponder is a Capricorn recording artist who is best known for his smooth but powerful delivery on mainly R&B and soul tunes. He started his career as the singer for Johnny Jenkins and the Pinetoppers after the departure of Otis Redding and he’s been going strong ever since. It’s fitting that this local legend will be on hand with his band to celebrate Grant’s 53rd anniversary.
Catfish Mac and the Bottom Feeders are an allstar cast of longtime blues pros that have come together to rekindle the electric blues power of the past. Larry McCray has been touring relentlessly with his own band for nearly 40 years and has made a name for himself in the blues both in the US and overseas. His vocals and guitar playing are reminiscent of (and on the level with) blues greats like Albert and Freddie King, Otis Rush, and Son Seals. Larry is truly a modern day blues giant. He’s joined by Ron Perry on bass who spent 11 years with John Lee Hooker and then went on to play in Susan Tedeschi’s band where he met, and is now reunited with organist William Green. Green is a powerhouse on blues organ and a consummate showman. Drummer Marcus Williams rounds out the lineup. Williams is the longtime drummer for soul legend Candy Staton. This show is not to be missed! It may be the last chance to catch these guys in such an intimate venue. And it will surely be the way to celebrate the history and good times that live on at the world famous Grant’s Lounge.
