JB Strauss w/Mac Leaphart
Though he’s in Nashville, Macon native JB Strauss draws heavily from his hometown for inspiration, as seen on his latest album, Saints of the South, featuring the song, “Ocmulgee Moon.” JB meshes music with storytelling in effortless fashion. Influenced by the heavy, electric style of bands like The Allman Brothers, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Lynyrd Skynyrd along with poetic and witty writers like John Prine, Gram Parsons, and Jim Croce, it is fitting JB borrows from the notion that ‘everything that rises must converge.’
Inspired by John Prine, the Rolling Stones, and Billy Joe Shaver, Nashville’s Mac Leaphart is an artist that puts the song first. Mac & his band deliver scrappy honky tonk rock & roll, tight but sloppy in all the right places. One part troubadour story teller, one part southern rock & roll entertainer, Leaphart has spent the last decade playing songs to anybody who would listen. From Nashville guitar pulls to Texas roadhouses, Leaphart has his run himself ragged for the sake of the song. Leaphart is set to release his latest Album, Motel Breakfast, in September.
