Georgia, Georgia Tech land in same Regional in NCAA baseball tournament

The Georgia baseball team will host a Regional in the NCAA Tournament, earning the No. 7 overall seed. And there will be a familiar face in Athens this week: Georgia Tech.

Landing a top-eight seed means the Bulldogs also would host a Super Regional if they advance this weekend.

In Wes Johnson’s first season with the program, the Bulldogs are 39-15 and feature one of the best players in the nation in Charlie Condon, who has 35 home runs. The Bulldogs are making their 14th appearance in a Regional. Georgia last advanced to the College World Series in 2008.

Georgia’s Regional will be paired with NC State’s Regional. The winners of the two Regionals will face off in the Super Regionals with a spot in the College World Series on the line.

Georgia will open against Army, while Georgia Tech is matched up with UNC Wilmington.
