World-renowned music photographer and tour mystic Kirk West has seen it all. His two coffee-table books, The Blues in Black and White and Les Brers: Kirk West’s Photographic Journey with The Brothers, document a journey that began in Chicago in the early 60s, where West captured images of artists including Muddy Waters, Junior Wells and Buddy Guy, and led to a 25-year stint as tour manager for the Allman Brothers Band. Along the way, West shot iconic images of Bob Marley, Tom Waits, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, George Jones and more. For the past decade, he and his wife, Kirsten West, have operated Gallery West in downtown Macon, showcasing his prints and books, along with exhibiting the works of other artists and presenting live performances.
Kirk West’s incredible career has always been rooted in a deep love of music—rock, blues, jazz, outlaw country. Into The Mystic, his weekly hour-long show on The Creek, captures the personality of the self-described “rock & roll pirate” as he curates an eclectic playlist and shares a story or three along the way.
